I just read this on reddit. She didn’t go. Had an amazing day with he roommate. Mom was in contact with her ex and was trying to get them back together. She cut of her mom until she doesn’t have contact with her ex anymore.

The mom not standing up for her own daughter against the family is ridiculous. And then tell her daughter what they said about her. Why can’t family just be happy their family members are happy why they need to dictate how they should be happy.

I have two daughters, I'd love to one day (in the very far future) be a grandmother to their kids! but I would never feel entitled to their lives like that! If they never want to get married and have kids then I hope they don't! because I want them to live the lives they want, not the lives I want.

My aunt just got married this june and didn’t have kids but me and my siblings are like her kids and we love her so much you don’t need to be married and have kids to be considered complete.

I was married for about 8yrs from ages 18-26, but we divorced cause he cheated, we had one son together, my only child and I stayed single by choice for 9yrs after that because I didn’t want to rush into anything and end up in the same boat again. I took my time and am now coming up on my 3yr anniversary with my forever person. My family was supportive the whole way and wanted me to be happy. OP deserves the same, she is not overreacting!

Okay so here’s my theory about the earlier generations. They ofc want us to do better than them(have careers, independence,etc) but once they see that we were able to achieve all of that and more…they start to resent us ESPECIALLY if we were able to do it without a man and are happy without a man. It baffles them. At least that’s just my theory

Your Mom is your first bully. Many of us have experienced things like this. You either call them out on it, accept it, or stay away from them. Your choice. I’m 51, Mom is 81 and I can tell you I’ll never be thin enough for her. It is what it is.
