I worked as a car salesman and I had a gentleman come in, we got to talking and we were both prior air force. This guy nonchalantly pulls out a photo of him on his phone, he was a test pilot for both the 22 and the 23. He said he preferred the 23, his name was Bill and I believe he's in a documentary briefly about it.

She was faster, quieter in all spectrums, longer range and just a little less maneuverable in some vectors but she was more advanced and cost less per unit and would of been able to carry a larger array of weapons. Just needed a better marketing team and politicians with more pull.

I think the 23 is in unofficial service because its more advanced than the 22 and the 22 is the face of the us airforce so they always have a card up their sleeve

there were three reasons that the yf-23 was not chosen. not as high visibility, maintenance cost would've been higher, didn't look at good as the f-22, but out performed the f-22 in everything
