What happened is that he went where he knew he shouldn’t and found out the hard way that he was wrong for bothering him.

Uncontacted people are extremely vulnerable to pathogens from the outside world and you could accidentally wipe them out just by going there. He FA'd and he FO'd. I just hope none of the Sentinelese died because of his self-righteousness.

he was there trying to "spread the word of god" also btw. the people on the island are among the few uncontacted tribes left in the world. only a select few people have gone there in the past and visited safely, but that was many years ago and now nobody can approach the island. India as a whole has banned anyone from even approaching the island

ahh yess I remember hearing this story as well. unfortunately when religion is so strong you need to spread it to unknown people. it doesn't tend to go your way

He thought he was on a mission from the Lord. He was with a group of young missionaries. He was told, even by the local missionaries, not to go. He went anyway and thought he would be like Jim Elliott but not die. He died anyway and unlike Jim Elliott, no one has been able to go back

This story is just crazy! He just needed to just let them be, I understand being curious but after multiple attempts of them warning him to not enter, he should’ve listened

They are also protected now (at least that is what I last read). Because of their simplistic and isolated lifestyle they haven’t been exposed to much. The flu or even the common cold could be harmful to them. You aren’t allowed within (I think) a 2 mile circumference from the island. It’s absolutely fascinating! I think a lot of us want to know more about, but we probably never will.
