✨ Znood El Sit ✨ Znood el sit is a family favourite during ramadan as a post iftar dessert, and once you try these you won’t go back to store bought 😋 For the best possible flavour and crunch make sure to use good quality ghee to fry, Allowrie from @Nimcofoods has been a favourite for years and I use it for all of my lebanese sweets 👌 Recipe : 1. Take out your filo dough horizontally and slice 6cm stips all the way down (discard the last few cm or put aside for a different dessert) 2. lay filo into a T shape, 3 layers for the long and 3 layers for the short (if you wanted it extra thick then do 4 layers for short side, this will make sure your ashta doesnt ooze out while frying) 3. Add a heaped tbsp of fresh ashta (use fresh for most authentic result buy from lebanese grocer or creamery) 4. Double fold short sides ontop of ashta to enclose then roll into a cylinder 5. On a medium to high heat, slowly fry 3 to 4 znood at a time in Allowrie Ghee, make sure the ghee covers the znood and submerge using your slotted spoon 6. Once golden remove from ghee and place directly into room temp or cold ater (sugar syrup)* 7. Submerge for 15 to 30 secs (I do 15 because I dont like it too sweet) remove with slotted spoon and place on cooling rack and allow to cool slightly 8. Once cooled garnish with more ashta, crushed pistachios and orange blossom jam if you find (I bought mine from lebanese sweets shop) 9. Enjoy ☺️ #Ramadan #znoodelsit #ramadanrecipes
