I just got back yesterday! I would definitely do it self-guided if I could do it again. I like to take my time to enjoy the surroundings but our group was so fast/guide was rushing us! We went with Macchu Picchu reservations too

How far in advance did you book your ticket? Do they give the better circuits to people who booked the earliest? When did you find out which circuit you were on? Could’ve you booked an additional circuit before your trip to ensure you get the circuit you want?

Machu Picchu reservation actually books you the circuit and time for the ticket that available. They try to go for circuit 2 since it’s the most popular and gives you the best views imo. If that ticket type is sold out they try to go for the circuit 1.

Pbersetze mir das auf spanisch: Yea it's just such a pain with the Tickets. You have to buy them a half year before to get the circle you want... 🥲I used machuping.com to get an alert when there are tickets restocked. And then bought it directly on the official website. I can highly recommend it :)
