I wish we’d just invest more in public transportation, both local and inter-metro. Buses, rail lines, high speed rail… but those don’t make money for the politicians and their friends, so instead we get more roads (taking up land we could use for other purposes).

We could have high speed rail connecting DFW, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston in a big triangle, allowing for incredibly fast and cheap transportation between these cities and massive boosts to the whole state's economy, but NOOOOOO, we have oil & gas + auto lobbys demanding endless highway expansions and no regulations to keep our state from becoming a 1980's cesspit of traffic and smog.
