Baa & Me: Banana Nu Shaak • • One thing Gujarati’s do best, is peeling away all wastage! • • —————————————————————————- Recipe: 👨🏽‍🍳 1️⃣ Start by slitting your bananas (but not all the way through) 🍌,& then cutting them into chunks • • 2️⃣ In a pestle & mortar, add garlic cloves until Your heart is content 🧄 & add some sugar & salt to combine it • • 3️⃣ in a separate plate add chopped coriander, 1tsp coriander & cumin powder, 1tsp tumeric powder, 1tsp chilli powder, 2tsp salt, 1tbsp besan flour & some oil and blend it together & of course add the garlic mix to this as well • • 4️⃣ Once blended, stuff into the centre of the banana’s 🍌 & push them together so they slightly seal & the mixture doesn’t fall out! • • 5️⃣ In a deep bottom pan, add oil & once heated, add 2 fried red chilli’s 🌶️, a pinch of rye-methi seeds, a pinch of cumin seeds & 1/2tsp asafoetida & stir • • 6️⃣ Add the banana’s to a deep bottom pan & add the remaining mixture if there is any because we don’t waste!! & top with 2tbsp tin of tomato 🍅• • 7️⃣ Cover for a few minutes & allow to cook through • • 8️⃣ Uncover & sprinkle some crushed peanuts 🥜 & cover again to cook through completely • • • I can’t get over how Gujarati’s turn literally any vegetable into a curry!! I was never previously a fan of banana nu shaak, but this one definitely surprised me! • • Would you try banana nu shaak? • • #bananacurry #curry #baa
