These are some other verses that support supporting the church. As you said, it's about giving, not a legal requirement but a faith filled generosity. The Bible also says giving is a matter of God giving you the grace to. But most important is the heart aspect. If you study it out generosity also increases our capacity to receive from God in our hearts. Since God is generous, He desires His children to be the same. It's not a matter of supporting a corrupt pastor it's a matter of being able to feed the poor, help the widowed and orphan and supply to the needs of the church to go out and do evangilism. I think the scepticism is founded considering the misuse of tithing by the false churches over the last while. But that doesn't give us excuse to not give. if you don't want to give to a church, we have to ask is it because the church is wrong or is it because I'm actually selfish? If not a church, why don't we put money aside each month to go help orphans or the needy? That's another option and through that we can inspire other believers in the body to do the same.
I Corinthians 16:1-2 NKJV
[1] Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: [2] On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.
2 corinthians 8 is a whole chapter of Paul Encouraging the corinthians to finish their promised giving
II Corinthians 9:5-8 NKJV
[5] Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. [6] But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. [7] So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. [8] And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
