@fishlikemike: I bet you a buck you didn’t know this! Dollar bills have long been used in our society but many still refer to it as a buck today. The main reason is because of early trades made between settlers who would trade a bucks skin/hide for a service, goods or tools. This became a form of currency until the US government adopted the US dollar in 1785 and solidified the currency in 1792 with the coinage act. Yet, to this day we still refer to it as a buck.
