Beth, I think you have nailed it with the right approach. As a Muslim, we are taught tolerance and even to respect but not accept if it goes against Islamic values and ethics. As a Muslim we celebrate having a family meal together as its a time of year to unite with family naturally. Its managing a balance without offending people of other faiths. I give Seasons greetings to my fellow Christian friends with warmth, its what the faith teaches. Also importantly not to lecture others...they will inquisitively ask the questions....

This is the best approach sister. Also I think the way you have talked about it, its the perfect time for people to know more about islam and your believes. It can help them understand and be more aware as well as invite them to islam (Dawah) as well when they find it’s something that they might also like it. Two Worlds :
Mother and father relationship, and respect for them regardless of their faith, is key requirement of islam. Join them for a meal, enjoy the family time, just avoid alcohol and pork etc. We always have a family lunch/dinner on 25th - with grilled salmon gracing the menu.... and enjoy family time and games. Mixing with other faiths is not forbidden in islam... (esp Abrahamic faith). Jesus and Mary are prophets of islam too and mentioned many time in the Quran too! Relax and Enjoy. Feel free to get and give gifts. Islam is a flexible fsith (despite the opposite press), not as rigid as some make it! Celebrate with the family.

The Prophet Muhammad married a Christian woman from Egypt and had children with her. There's no problem with celebrating Christmas, offering blessings, entering churches, sitting, and listening. Muslims are lying when they claim it's forbidden for Muslims; their statement is incorrect. The Quran speaks of marriage to Christian and Jewish women, blesses their faith, and praises them, and does not force them to convert to Islam.
