I genuinely was so sad when I was on a call with a coworker who was showing me his “AI workflow” in which he showed a few usecases. One was to call an MCP server to get a list of failed e2e tests and re-run them locally. He used AI to “please give me a list of failed tests in this response” - wdym you’d rather please ask an AI to please give you something than call an API and parse a JSON? Ok whatever. The other usecase was adding some simple unit tests. He had 5 react hooks that fetch data from an API. Minimal complexity. The AI ran for 5 minutes and gave him 5 test files. 3 out of them failed and he had to figure out why. It would have been much more productive to just copypaste those tests and change variable names. Those were just boilerplate tests. Like how fucking lazy do you have to be to let this stupid lying machine think for you even for the most trivial tasks? AND ITS NOT EVEN GOOD. You spend more time trying to figure out what it did wrong than you would have if you had made the work yourself. AGHHHHHHH

in my opinion it is okay to use it to finish your projects faster but you have to be absolutely sure that you understand the code 100% and can absolutely write it on your own

Vibe coding hate is 99% ego. Before vibe coding, developers felt different or unique because they had a specialized skill that no one else had. Fast forward a few years, and now everyone can produce code. That removes the uniqueness or feeling of superiority in that area, which is why we see a lot of devs hating on vibe coders. Writing code has never been the main or hardest part of software engineering. Vibe coding has just made that more apparent.

if you offload all your thinking and debugging to an AI literally how will you improve ? I use LLMs for quick helper functions or for learning something new or if im stuck during a project and I couldn't solve the problem myself I ask for help and explanations until I fix it myself, but just letting an AI build something from A to Z sounds so boring, do people not enjoy programming?
