Someone who’s been there for years is making 12% less than someone just being hired is totally unacceptable.

What part of “you can’t tell him not to talk about it” translated into “go right to him & tell him to stop talking about it”? 🙃

Why do I think this managers bonus is based on how much they are under budget.

12% less??? His excuse for new employees is cost of living? Shouldn’t the tenured employees be getting cost of living raises?

If I EVER found out a brand new employee was making 12% more than me and I’d been there for 15+ years. I’d be gone! There’s ZERO excuse for that

Why are managers(companies) always willing to fight tooth and nail to keep their unfair pay structures??

If you can’t afford to bring current workers up to the same base rate (plus all earned raises over their current base rate) to the same base rate as new employees, you can’t afford to offer a higher base rate to anyone.

Tenured employees deserve to be paid more than someone just coming in with little or no experience. Pay should be based on education, overall experience, meeting expected metrics, and time with the company. Moving their pay to the same as new employees is still crazy to me.

My husband got an 86% raise in one year (not all at once) because he found out new hires were making 40k more than him. He fussed and got the equal pay, then the cost of living raise and then I think they were worried he’s quit so they gave him another raise

I’m so confused how they seem to think that new employees have a different cost of living from existing. lol. But also? It tells me that the existing are vastly underpaid and are not having fair wage adjustments in general, even outside of the new employees pay.
