just because humans by nature have a higher level of consciousness, should not determine that they are more important or valuable than even an ant. Obviously, when you’re talking about the systems, we are humans living at our own personal connections. Yes, they can be valued. More tend to think a lot of people seem to see humans with this God complex just because we’re the most intelligent creatures.

Losing a pet is horrible, but just imagine the suffering you’re causing to the people who knew the person you sacrificed. Their family? They are likely never recovering from that. Also people might be depending on them when dogs offer emotional support at most

Humans are animals, why are we superior? We’re grossly overpopulated due to our own wrongdoings, we kill the planet for convenience, we destroy everything we touch, why would I value that over an innocent?

I know what you mean but the moment it becomes personalized it’s not longer ethical, it’s moral. If it’s someone’s dog vs a stranger, it’s basically removing the animal vs human debate out of the question and becomes personal vs impersonal. But if it’s a random dog vs a random human, it’s different.
