@specialneedsparenting: There’s life before having special needs children and there’s life after. People will usually insist on living the way they did before and find out that it doesn’t work out like it used to. It’s like trying to fit a triangle block into a squared shape hole. It doesn’t fit!! Taking on the responsibility of becoming a caregiver to one’s special needs children and making the necessary adjustments will help you get more rest, feel more relaxed and give the children the best possible chance to flourish. I went back to school to be a RN after my daughters diagnosis. Best decision I’ve ever made, left another career but this has even so fulfilling. I get paid to be her full time caregiver. 💕

It takes years to truly master being a professional caregiver. We had to start a small business and give up careers and dream jobs to become the first teachers, advocates, and caregivers for our two boys—and we would do it all over again without hesitation.
This is so true. Blessings from one autism dad to another 🧩
And by the way, that side laugh you gave at the beginning of the video makes complete sense. It’s that laugh of still being in disbelief… but showing up anyway and making it work, every single day.

Spot on here!! I left my legal career of decades when I became a special needs parent. Redesigned my life and became a paraeducator to better understand my journey, as well as to be supportive to all children with disabilities. My special needs child will soon be 18 and is thriving…all because he was supported!
