it's all European union fault!!!!
They invent environmental excuses to take more money from ordinary working people.

And this is exactly why you buy an EV, no worries about DPF, GPF, EGRs, turbos, timing chains, gearboxes etc. My Aunt went from a 2020 A6 45 TDI which was nothing but trouble to a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range and her fuel bill went from £400 a month to £40 of electric a month (charging at home). Audi offer a 3 year warranty and that’s it, the Tesla has 4 year warranty on the whole car PLUS 10 year / 120k mile warranty on the battery and motor. It’s a no brainer.

mechanically, modern engines are very good. it's the sensors, filters and other components that are bolted onto them that let them down.

Basically the motor industry has been thrown into turmoil by governments hysterically pushing environmental policies , leading to manufacturers cutting costs and trying to meet immeasurable legislation

The service industry is worth too much money cars and their parts are designed to degrade to maintain that industry. We were talking about this in the 90s. We can create bulbs that won't need replacing yet don't.

Seeing how far the new petrols with direct injection have come and all the hassle of owning a diesel, there's no point in getting a diesel if you do less than 15k miles a year mostly on motorway runs.

because they're choking them up with the emmisions,,that coupled together with engine oil that's no thicker than baby oil,,since when did you have to replace a timing chain more often than a belt system.

The governments keep changing the regulations an the car manufacturers don’t have the development time. The government over regulation is the issue
