In Malaysia for a long long time ago til today Muslim women are allowed to study, work, earn their own money, own property, and live independently. They can be active in society, run businesses, and make their own choices, as long as it’s within Islamic values. Islam doesn’t ask women to stay silent, tolerate abuse, or live only to please others. A lot of limits people talk about are cultural, not religious. Islam empowers women culture shouldn’t take that away. Bottom line: No true religion teaches people to be violent. When violence happens, it comes from that particular person, politics, ego, or extremism not the religion itself.

In Malaysia our muslim women own driving license, driving their own car, can vote, can be a minister. He is right. It’s the country, the geopolitics, the people are making those rules not the religion. Now women in Saudi Arabia can drive a car beginning June 2018.
