My son had a teacher in 4th grade that called him Buck Buck. He absolutely HATED it. He’s autistic and he would have meltdowns every time she called him that. It got so bad she even allowed other students to call him that even though he repeatedly asked not to be called that. She basically told him she was the adult and could call him whatever she wanted. It took me months but we were finally able to get his classroom switched and things got better.

My dad called me Dawny when I was little. That name is now reserved for family and close friends. I’m not sure why some coworkers and strangers call me that sometimes out of the blue, except maybe that since my name is simply one syllable, they feel the need to add to it. They usually get corrected pretty quickly.
