I have one for my dog. I have shocked him twice ever, he's 6 now, always for his own safety. He normally listens fine but occasionally he locks in on a squirrel or bunny and doesn't listen.. the shock is solely to keep him out of the road.

I had good dogs all my life but I did have one that was a problem, there was just something in her DNA that made her want to eat trucks, especially if they had a jake brake. she wore a shock collar for about a year before the batteries died too much to shock but not too much to beep and another five before I took it off and left it off. she was 20 when she passed away.

shock collars aren't an issue it's unnecessarily shocking and having it at high power my family dogs wear shock collars and we only shock if they're actively tearing up something or in the event they try to fight another pet
