@thechrishinton: Comfort feels good. Love makes you better. The Greeks understood this. Michelangelo understood this. Modern culture forgot it. If love never challenges you, it might just be comfort. Where can you see the angel in the marble and what do you need to stop doing to set it free. #comfortvslove #personalgrowth #selfawareness #relationshiptruth #mindsetshift
my husband and I have been together 13 years. he stopped drinking when we got together because I told him I can't be with someone who drinks all the time. maybe my bad for staying with him at all. so he stopped for 10 years. the past 2 years he picked the habbit back up. he doesn't treat me very good when he drinks. I told him I can't keep doing this. he said he doesn't want to stop drinking he did it for 10 years he isn't willing to do it again. we are going to separate. he has his boundaries and I have mine. unfortunately we can't see a compromise. im so heartbroken.

Its insane how close I came to skipping Forbidden Path of the Subconscious by Ghaelen Blackwell. This isn’t just another book about the subconscious. It feels like something that was never meant to be shared publicly.

I am so scared of love. I've been abandoned so many times and emotionally hurt at keast twice as much. I've always been a pleaser, otherwise I wouldn't be seen or noticed at all. I'm not even sure what live is anymore

As a therapist who teaches parts work as one modality, I can certainly appreciate your paradigm of the “villagers” for sure! Thanks for sharing!

"You've turned a behavior into an identity". A lot of truth in those words! It matters which "villagers" in your head you listen to the most. The fearful ones only seeking comfort will flat lie to you!

It’s a fine line to recognize refinement vs control, because someone’s “refinement”of you is a judgement of what they think you should be not necessarily your true self.

When your partner is an alcoholic avoidant this is frustrating. I’m just going to focus on myself now.

Being so fearful of abandonment which causes me to be a people pleaser and lose myself and my identity. Not setting boundaries or setting boundaries, but not enforcing them because of fear of rejection or abandonment.

I have a big problem trusting anyone. I am not sure where and how to fix this inside myself. I want a loving, respectful and supportive relationship but without trust there is nothing to start from right?

Refinement for me is to love myself more and better instead of seeking it outwardly. I am running away from my own love. 😥❤️🩹

As I agree with you, I also agree they're keeping somebody accountable in love is probably the best way to go about that. There are so many people out there that do not do it in love that do it in chastisement, that do it in judgment. And that is not the way to make somebody become better. My mother always used to say you attract more flies with honey than you do vinegar. i was in a long-term relationship. 20 some years and my husband wanted to always keep me accountable. Although it didn't work for him, it was supposed to work for me.
And his thought pattern was come to my level or don't come at all.
The last words I heard from him were.I wish I could just keep you accountable of your actions and I really wasn't doing anything. But his words and his actions came across as judgmental, as I am.The man of the house and you will abide by what I say. That is not right? And I will never get into a situation like that ever.In my whole entire life, it was the worst kind of feeling.I have ever felt.
