i think the thing that makes max so lovable is that each character represents a different playthrough of how ppl play the games Lucy-good playthrough ghoul -bad playthrough Max- a neutral playthrough the thing that makes max so interesting is the fact that he's a character who faces constant lose-lose situations and chooses what he believes is best because deep down he wants to be a kind and good person. He wants to listen to his heart but each time he has it leads him more and more astray it's a testament to how human he and his decisions really are, Lucy is essentially brainwashed and extremely naive she's a product of 200 years of corporate brainwashing the ghoul is a character who has seen so much evil that he doesn't see hope his humanity died long ago maximus tho he has seen the beauty of life and the horrors of the waste land all he wants is to bring what he had as a child to others in the wasteland which leads for an extremely well written character who must face some of the hardest human choices one can make

It’s so good yet so sad to see his change in character towards the brotherhood from s1 to s2. The first time we see him get in the power armor in s1 he looks so happy, and by s2, we see him in the same suit looking so jaded and heartbroken.
