A big reason the Smokies are not dog friendly is because of the bear population. It’s for the safety of you and your dog. If you have the time, do drive up to Kuwohi/Clingman’s Dome. Honestly, the best views are from the parking lot, no trail necessary.

The trails are not dog-friendly because bears are not dog-friendly! It’s for safety, because bears in the Smokies are not just on signs. We saw bears in the driveway and on the roof of our honeymoon cabin!

I suggest trying the all trails app. It’s really great for locating trails and hiking that fit a certain criteria such as difficulty level and pet friendly.

Highly recommend the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail and the views from Newfound Gap in the National Park. Not hiking trails, but both beautiful places you can drive to and get out of the car with the dogs

I went to The Old Mill Restaurant in Pigeon Forge the last time I was in that area. I have to say it was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. The atmosphere was amazing.
