@brasil.gringo.comedia: Vilanculos completely surprised me. 🇲🇿 This was my first taste of Mozambique, and it’s one of those places that still feels untouched — quiet beaches, warm people, and life moving a little slower. 🐎 Mozambique Horse Safari (@mozambiquehorsesafari) This wasn’t just a cool experience — it has an incredible backstory. Many of these horses were rescued and brought here after their owners were forced to flee political violence in Zimbabwe. Over years of setbacks, border issues, and rebuilding, they found a safe home here. Now they roam freely — and yes, you can actually ride them into the ocean. Easily one of the most unique things I’ve ever done. 🚤 Bazaruto Archipelago (@bazaruto_boat_excursion_mz) Vilanculos is the gateway to this protected marine paradise. Think untouched islands, sand dunes, crystal-clear water, and snorkeling over coral reefs. If you’re lucky, you might even spot dugongs — one of the world’s rarest sea mammals. They pick you up right from your hotel and take care of everything. 🏨 Where we stayed: @donaanahotel One of the nicest stays in the area — beachfront, super peaceful, relaxing pools, and charming 1960s-style architecture. Fun fact: its beach is the only spot on the peninsula where the tide stays constant, which is why it’s been the main departure point for island explorers for decades. 🌅 Don’t miss • Red sand dunes at sunset (we went by tuk-tuk) • The local market • Walking around town and just soaking it in Vilanculos isn’t a party town — it’s for nature, calm, and discovery.
