Origin: lateral fibula Insertion: • Fibularis longus → plantar surface of the 1st metatarsal & medial cuneiform • Fibularis brevis → base of the 5th metatarsal Action: eversion of the foot, assists plantarflexion, stabilizes the ankle and arch When these muscles are tight or restricted, you can see lateral ankle pain, instability, chronic ankle sprains, arch collapse, plantar foot pain, and altered gait mechanics. Thanks I found this helpful. However I do have some confusion on how the peroneus on the outer leg causes inversion. Would she possibly also have another muscle on the inner leg that would be pulling it inwards?
