What it boils down to is insecurity and jealousy. Black American culture has been globalized and is seen on every inch of the planet. Others in the diaspora are upset that nobody acknowledges or cares about their culture. The irony here is that social media has given them the opportunity to introduce the world to their culture but bc they are hyper obsessed with Black Americans they use their platforms to talk about us rather than their own culture. Its like if crabs in a bucket were personified. Notice you don’t hear this from Jamaicans whose culture is the second most consumed globalized culture after BA.
