This is me. I can see the pattern, I understand why I keep recreating this, but I continue to choose these people. It’s so hard to break free from this loop.

When I learned to set boundaries, I was able to stop that pattern.

What's actually happening is actually patriarchal patterning. We refuse to wake up and realize that most of us are having the same experience with men. They clock us early on. They've been trained to compete for resources and extract from us.

Guilty. The most frustrating part is going to my partner and begging to be cared about, only to be told that they aren’t capable. But they are always happy with the way that I love them! 💔

it's such a raw deal to get rubbish parents/carers just to condition you and prime you for bad love by choice in your adult life. I wish our brains were wired for the opposite outcome

Yesssss. Also ugh. I didn’t even “register” the red flags as problematic, it was just… normal. Hard to notice something that was invisible

The moment we stop over accommodating people who don't actually care about the relationship, our long road back to self worth starts.
We literally hand out our self worth like candy on Halloween when we bend and twist ourselves constantly to everyone's whim, against our will....
You can still be the nice person without abandoning your own needs constantly.
Silent Generation and Gen X women were raised in a type of 50's housewife environment where a woman's top goal was to be nice, forever accommodating and serving all and everybody. You can still be nice without self abandonment.
Rewrite the rules. Ask yourself what you want things to look like in your life. You can restart at any age. Sometimes that restart will mean walking away from relationships that have anyway not worked for decades.

I had to remove those people from my life that normalized these types of relationships and behavior patterns. I wasn't able to safely be around those people or their choices.
