Another Day in the Life at the Golden Arches 🍟 (06:00–15:00… somehow) Today was supposed to be a nice, easy 06:00–11:00 shift. Keyword: supposed 😭 Clocked in bright and early and started the morning by stocking up the sauce pots, getting everything nice and organised before the breakfast rush really kicked off. After that, I chucked some sausages on the grill, making sure breakfast was running smoothly, then started setting up for delivery — cages out, space cleared, mentally preparing myself for what was coming. Next thing I know, I clock off for my break… only for it to last a grand total of 8 minutes 🫠 because of course the delivery truck decided to arrive immediately. Break over before it even began. Got a picture with the delivery driver, then it was straight into graft mode. No one else available to help, so I cracked on and started putting the entire delivery away myself. Cage by cage, box by box, fridge, freezer, dry stock — the lot. While I was in the middle of it, Bryn arrived, so I grabbed a quick picture with him before carrying on. After that, I focused on getting all the dry stock put away, making sure everything was in the right place and easy to grab for later shifts. Once delivery was fully done, I went into full tidy-up mode and cleaned and organised all the stockrooms. One of those jobs that takes ages but is so satisfying when it’s finished. Then came the highlight of the shift… I decided to prank the new starter 😭 I handed him what looked like a brownie — complete with a bit of cream on top — only for it to actually be coffee grounds shaped like a brownie. The disappointment was unreal. Harmless fun, but absolutely worth it 😂 Because I stayed on way past my original finish time (from 11:00 all the way to 15:00), I was thankfully allowed to take some food home, which honestly felt well-earned after that shift.
