Delete it the correct way, encrypt cloud backups, only use a PIN on your phone, factory reset after too many incorrect attempts of the PIN.

Digital Forensics Examiner here... This only somewhat true. There are MANY variables at play. Deleted CAN mean gone forever - i.e. non-recoverable. If there's a spoliation clause (preservation) in place and content is deleted (and can be proved data was deleted), then Subject could be found in contempt. Metadata can be circumstantial in nature. *not legal advice*
