@beyondflorida: Rainbow Park is a massive subdivision in Florida's Marion County that first broke ground in the late 1960s or early 1970s. It has thousands of lots, many undeveloped, and has been plagued by flooding and lack of central drainage for decades. #floridaconstruction #floridaenvironment #suburbansprawl
Not just in Marion County, unfortunately most of FL is governed this same way.

We need to stop realtors and developers from being elected to city and county councils. Please people research and vote for who will help instead of develop and get kickbacks

I beg any Florida native like me, or anyone living in Florida to read the book "A Land Remembered" by Patrick D. Smith.

that's sad that they've already cleared out all that land just to do that subdivision but yet they didn't spend enough to allow for proper drainage they need retention ponds out there and a few other things to help it dissipate the water it's a shame though because all that natural land and all those trees are already gone and they're not coming back and now everything's just sitting dormant with a couple houses on it I pray that something gives and they at least finish developing it for people to live in since they've already destroyed the land around it

I live in Rainbow park. Two houses behind me have been sold and buyers left I heard because water was getting into their homes. Luckily I live on higher ground. They continue to build and the houses don’t sell 🥺

I hate it.... we have developments that have completely started and then completely stops and then they move on to a whole new area yet we have a staggeringly high homeless rate but we can keep building houses for nothing and wasting resources in space

Florida is becoming Levittown South. Ten more years and it's going to be a defunct slum.
