There are young Muslims who genuinely feel embarrassed today because they haven’t done something Allah told them not to do. Think about how strange that is. We’ve reached a point where having boundaries can make you feel inexperienced. Having haya can make you feel boring. And protecting yourself for marriage can somehow make you feel like you’re the one missing out. You’re not. If you’ve protected yourself until marriage, don’t allow a culture with completely different values to determine how you feel about that. There is nothing embarrassing about having self-control. There is nothing backwards about wanting intimacy to mean something. And there is nothing wrong with wanting to give your future husband or wife something you deliberately protected for them. Especially when temptation has become so accessible. Apps have made people disposable. Pornography has distorted intimacy. Casual relationships have made commitment feel unnecessary. And somehow restraint became the unusual choice. So if you’re young and everyone around you seems to be doing things you’ve chosen not to... Don’t feel embarrassed. Don’t lower your standards because you’re afraid of being different. And don’t exchange something you’ve protected for years for a temporary moment of validation.
