The story I remember was that he didn’t have any bath salts in his system. They thought it was a psychotic break. He was schizophrenic. I’ve literally never heard of any other schizophrenic, eating someone’s face. It seems more bath salts-ish.

Yes!! I was in high-school when this was developing news and I remember the boys reading out live updates and trying to convince us all that bathsalts were actively causing a real life zombie apocalypse, when it happened again, they got even more convinced. I was confused and traumatized, but obviously even nearly as much as the poor victims 😭

@Mollie Nowinsky: Thank you for this!! I haven’t thought about this in a long time but I was in Miami a few weeks after this happened. By that point there were lots of bath salts and zombie jokes. The group I was with walked to a 24 hour Walgreens around midnight. As we approached the store, 3 people were standing outside saying, “WE NEED YOUR BLOOD!” They asked us to COME TO THEIR VAN to give blood. It was just a van. No indication of a real operation. 😳😅
