i call absolute BS that you make 20% more hours by doing video inspections unless youre scare tactic-ing or blowing things out of proportion to get the sale. its taking time away from me being able to do work im not trained on customer service idk how to explain it to a customer where they understand it without any questions if it takes me 5 minutes per car, i put out 10 cars a day on average, thats wasting 50 minutes of my time. my efficiency is usually 120% so thats another 1.1h a day i couldve made. over a pay period thats a whole 12 hours. all im asking for is 0.1-0.2 of pay for it. if it really is that good at selling work then itll be worth it to the shop to pay me for my work and incentivise me actually doing it.

Love it! Lots of guys forget a good write-up on paper took longer, remember hand-writing a novel? Video inspections = greater sales success = more hours on less cars racked. As a customer are you buying a cv axle off a picture of a torn boot or some obscure footnote? Hint: 50% greater buy rate on the photo (thats a fact). If a technician’s argument is that inspections shouldn’t be done at all, then never complain when it is slow. Presented work keeps the hopper full and sold work keeps your bay full. Customers do not walk in the door with thousands $ in gravy. Would you rather do 10 hours on 2 cars or 10 hours on 4 cars which helps you the tech flag more?

Eventually there won’t be any service advisors. Just a screen to enter you info and concern and a valet to tag and park the car. Electronic dispatch will send them to the techs. Parts will be just someone pulling parts cause AI will do the estimate after you video the car and they analyze the filming.
