I get both sides. If it’s a closed adoption or you make it VERY clear that you don’t want your child reaching out to you, I think the adoptee should respect that.

Closed adoption is sometimes chosen by the adoptive parents.

the worst part is this was about a woman who stated if abortion is now illegal and she can't get 1 when she is raped, she wants a closed adoption and not to relive her trauma. don't find her.

Me. Adopted, yes. Closed? yes. Opened by government? yes. Birth mother found? Yes. Complex on both sides? Yes. Have I gained siblings who are thrilled to know me? Yes. Every situation is different. Ppl who have no perspective need to shut the fuck up. Just sayin’. 🙄

I was adopted because I was a victim of child abuse. I only reached out to my bio family to get answers and closure. If anything, adoptees deserve closure.

i feel like stuff like this basically boils down to people needing to mind their own business. why do we need discourse about this?

I don't think I know anyone who has put their child up for adoption, but I have known several adopted kids. One thing that has always been a constant is that all of them have wondered about their birth parents regardless of how they grew up.

closed adoption is not a No Contact order or means they dont want to know the child, my adoption was closed because my parents where violent drug addicts who had already had 5 kids before me and couldn't care for our needs so for our safety it was closed, trust me bio Dad and Mom wanted us desperately but addiction and bad decisions forced the laws hand, so not all and actually most closed adoption arent a no from the bio parents just really shity or terrible circumstances

The cruelty has to be a psyopp, cause yes they could very well be risking being rejected by their birth parents again, but demonizing adoptees for wanting to know where they come from, a desire so valid we’ve created entire religions just to answer that question on a spiritual sense, but human beings can’t desire wanting to know where they come from? It’s gotta be bots that co-opted the discourse to be intentionally cruel and tone deaf. Another plot to divide ppl.

Also why is everyone acting like every single adoptee is adopted by people in faraway lands when international adoptions are probably the minority. Your biological mother could be the woman in the next town who has a handsome son that you’ve been crushing, next thing you’re knocked up by your sibling because people on the internet want to stigmatise finding out information about yourself and blood relatives.

Most of these conversation centered around, finding the mother it isn’t about reunification it’s about controlling women’s bodies at the end of the day most of the people who feel like the adoptive child to seek at their parent they’re mostly talking about the mother never the father

Let’s also not forget that some adoptees seek out their bio parents because they believe their parents loved them but couldn’t take care of them. Not that the bio parents want nothing to do with them

My mom was adopted. She never wanted to find her bio parents and leaves that door closed, and I think it's the right decision for her and the family. I think it would be a Pandora's box opening if we were to seek them out and find out traumatic information that leaves us but especially her worse off than before. I don't have an opinion on other adoptees seeking their bioparents out though.

Biological parents owe you nothing. Adoptees (I AM ONE!!!) need to leave their birth mothers alone.

The adoption industry directly supports lobbyists who support making abortion illegal. Adoptees are the “product” that makes the industry money that they can then turn around, lobby against abortion rights which will then create more adoptees. So maybe, JUST MAYBE women should be listening to us and realizing that we are also the victims of limiting abortion access and we are fighting for that same thing, access for everyone who has a fucking uterus to safe and legal abortion access. I’d even say free abortion access.

I believe that all parents who put a child up for adoption should be required to keep a line of connection open where they update their medical history and the child gets access to that

Well the situation was specifically when the mom doesn’t want the child. And what her feelings would be. I don’t think there was anything wrong with that.
