More about removing the carcinogens that the protective covering is exposed to and pick up, same reason you wash your turnouts….It’s about reducing exposure not keeping the inside clean.

but what happens when they go from one call to the next and don't have time to clean those hoses do they just exchange them for new ones in the meantime I think a lot of us would like some answers here lol

We don’t have any of those fancy machines we just have a hose sprayer then use people ring it out then let it hang in the drying tower

only in towns that are rich lol small town first we walk to hose out to get the water out, roll on the truck at the scene, then back at the fire house, hoses are power washed, then twisted the opposite way to dry, put new set of extra hose to replace the hose used next day hose should be dry then put back onto the truck and extra hose put in storage.
