When I left my ex-husband, I was 100% financially stable on my own and that allowed me to leave when I was ready. He came home. All my stuff was gone. I took my half out of our joint savings and I left him his half. Got my own apartment and started living my life.

I have left in both scenarios. I left my first DV relationship with 4 kids and $6 in my pocket. It was so hard. Second, I was the breadwinner and yes, it is easier when you are financially secure/independent.

This is extremely important for women to understand. You having your own is a NEED and a MUST! Meaning being able to afford your own living without the help of anyone. Often times women get comfortable in relationships/marriages. Please make sure you are always in a good financial situation.
