@gallia.belgica: 🇧🇪 Liberation of Belgium in 1918 : On 28.09.18, Belgium began the final offensive to liberate its territory during WW I. The Belgian Army launched a major attack on the German forces occupying Flanders. This operation was led by King Albert I, who personally commanded the Belgian troops. Due to an ancient tradition, the first Belgian cavalry units fought with the sabre as their primary weapon. This practice came from a long-standing chivalric tradition, inherited from Belgian knights, where the sabre symbolized honor, courage, and close combat on horseback. even WW2 most transportation of artillery and troop movement Horses were most used not mechanised vehicles. The tanks troop carriers etc were filmed for propaganda knowing either side was watching. A scare tactic. Most soldiers were good horsemen.
