It's like the quote in Jurassic Park, "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" sometimes the focus causes the speed, so humanity hasn't yet processed the full effect of the science.

Why shouldn’t you love Art & Art History? All early Scientists were classically trained in the Arts, and many scientific discoveries were made by artists. I am an artist & arts educator who loves science!

With all this in mind I can see why people feared and rebuked science back then. It wasn't just that people didn't understand science so therefore they were scared of it. Or that they were told that science is antithetical to god and religion. This adds human emotion to the context of scientific advancement. I know unsavory things happened to learn about the world around us, but honestly I never considered that the scientists themselves struggled with that.

Thanks for the history lesson. Artist like DaVinci were scientist as well. The arts and sciences belong together; it’s important for creativity and innovation. People today, that believe that art and science don’t blend, have it wrong. Art also reminds us of the ethics involved with scientific innovation.

Great post! I view the couple on the left as not being absorbed in one another, but having a wordless dialogue about the ethics of what they are witnessing, their young love in the context of what they thought would be an entertainment and curiosity forced to face a dilemma together. Theirs is a very serious and spontaneously profound exchange.
