not only protecting, they sleep where they can have their exit as well, like they are in guard, so they can escape as easiest as possible, its natural. like “I trust you, but I have to have my own escape just in case”

I have one that sleeps at the end of the bed closest to the door while the other sleeps right up against my back on the side of the bed that is closest to the door.
