@thinkandrise2.0: In our society, if you really look closely, religion is often used more than anything else to silence women. If a woman raises her voice, it’s a problem. If she asks questions, it’s a problem. If she wants to make decisions about her own life, that too becomes a problem. When there’s a need to suppress her freedom, control her clothes, monitor how she sits, stands, laughs, or speaks, what’s done? A light layer of religion is added, and suddenly everything becomes “sacred.” As if faith only came with restrictions for women and conveniences for men. The truth is, the problem isn’t religion. The problem is our convenience. Honestly, if even half of what we force women to memorize about religion was taught to men — their character, their gaze, their intentions, their responsibilities — we might actually see real change in our culture. And if religion were enforced on men with the same strictness it is imposed on women, more than half of them would no longer be considered “righteous.” Fatwas would start pointing the other way. It’s a bitter truth, but it’s still the truth. This isn’t about misunderstanding faith.
