It was a bit of a micro aggression on his part. He should talk only from his experience. This could have been rephrased in a way that made her feel valued and praised for her efforts instead of attacked. For instance, something like, "After these sessions, I feel a lot more seen and connected and like I want to reach out to Allison instead of drawing distance" and that would have made her beam rather than defend
