The amount of parents I know around me who just put movies on for the kids, don’t read to them, don’t do activities with them, and just make them iPad kids is crazy to me… like y’all are supposed to parent

Thissss. So many people are too lax about having kids it drives me nuts. Same people that act like marriage is a bigger commitment than having a baby too! Marriage can be undone- having a child cannot.

“You’re never really ready” “but if you wait you may not be able to later!” “Love is all they need” “I wasn’t ready but still had them” it’s crazy how they encourage ppl to just have kids and not actually THINK about it, and ensure they are the most prepared. Parenting is not perfect, but it’s wild to be persuading others to just have kids & have them asap bc “it’ll work out”. Encouraging this over better preparedness bc they didn’t have ppl to not shame them for waiting, & pressured by the expectations of having kids young.

And to add to the unpopular opinion: if you’re not in a place in life where you’re ready to sacrifice your career so that you can be more present in your child’s life, you might not be ready to have children 🫣

prayed so hard, took classes, RESEARCH SO MUCH STUFF, prepared everything my baby needed for the first year, now establishing a business for him, saving, keeping myself healthy, planning for his future. We wanted this baby.
