@dallasjameswicker: The Founding Fathers never intended Congress to become a wealthy ruling class. They paid politicians per diem because they wanted leaders to live under the same conditions as the people. No lifetime pensions.
 No automatic raises.
 No insulation from the consequences of bad policy. If Congress passed bad laws, they were supposed to feel it. What we have today is not representation.
