I had a friend in high school that was a liar, he would lie about everything for no reason. It got to the point that I stopped believing anything he would say.

As someone who went to a high school who demanded you went to college and become a leader in life, the comment about feeling pressures to not fail and being ashamed hits for me at least. Don’t know about Amy, but I often lied to my parents about my grades in college because they assumed I was doing amazing but in truth I was struggling like crazy

I will say, while there's no excuse, true pathological liars typically don't lie intentionally. It's something that's done due to impulse control and is more of a compulsion than lying intentionally to hurt someone. It requires a LOT of therapy and self reflection to stop doing and causes a lot of damage to a person's relationships, rightfully so
