After lots of experimenting, failed pours, starting over, and most importantly, A LOT of practicing, I’ve learned a few things that have really helped me grow as an artist. ❤️ Fluid art is a journey, and these are the 7 things that have made the biggest difference in my art over the years! ✨ 1. Letting go of the need to control everything. One of the hardest things to learn! Fluid art has a mind of its own, and sometimes the best results happen when I stop trying to control every little detail and just let the paint do its thing. 🎨 2. Practicing, practicing, and practicing some more. Not every pour turns out the way I imagined. Trust me, I’ve had plenty of failures! 😂 But every pour teaches me something, and sometimes those mistakes turn into the best learning experiences. 🖌️ 3. Getting to know my paints and my medium. Learning how different paints behave, finding the right paint-to-medium ratios, and understanding consistency have made a HUGE difference. Every paint is different, and figuring out what works takes time and patience. 🌈 4. Sticking with five colors or less. I love color, but I’ve learned that sometimes less really is more! Limiting my palette helps create harmony and balance and keeps my paintings from becoming too busy. Choosing colors that work well together can make all the difference. ⏳ 5. Learning to be patient. Especially when it comes to drying! It’s tempting to keep checking on a painting or want it finished right away, but rushing the process can ruin all that hard work. Sometimes you just have to walk away and let things happen. 💫 6. Being brave enough to experiment. Trying new techniques, different paints, new color combinations, and things I’ve never done before has helped me grow so much. Not everything works, but I’d never discover something new if I didn’t give it a try! ❤️ 7. Following my own style. I think this one is exceptionally important! It’s easy to get caught up in what other artists are doing, but I’ve learned that the most rewarding thing is creating art that feels like me. My style continues to develop, and I’m learning to embrace that instead of trying to make my art look like someone else’s. ✨ And my latest experiment? Combining paint pouring with brushwork! It’s quickly become my newest favorite technique, and I’m having so much fun exploring the possibilities. Who knew combining two different approaches could open up so many new creative opportunities? And the best part? I’m STILL learning and experimenting! Every time I pour paint, I discover something new. My art is ever-evolving, and honestly, I hope it always will be. ❤️ Because that’s what I love about fluid art. There’s always something new to try, something new to learn, and another creative adventure waiting around the corner! 🎨 Fellow artists, what’s ONE thing that has made the biggest difference in your art? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! #PaintPouringWithPatti #FluidArt #AcrylicPouring #ArtistJourney #CreativeProcess
