This is going to sound odd but if you ask what pigments are in the color formula you will get an idea of the finished tone. For example, if a color is heavy in ochre it will lean yellow. I’ve never had anyone get weird about sharing the formula or pigment colors. Also try to look for a paint color that is “full spectrum” (has a red, yellow, & blue component). One final tip, once you’ve found your color have a drop or two of black added to the formula; it gives depth without changing the color

Hey girl. So… you’re having a really hard time picking because you are painting colours with different undertones beside one another and you are also painting colours with different LRVs beside one another which makes an average light colour with a 62 LRV look dark. Fossil will look pink because it’s a taupe and you have green beiges and green greys painted beside it. Those colours are opposites on the colour wheel so anything that a smidge of green will make a taupe look pink :) Try painting them on cheap canvas from the dollar store and leave a two inch border around all 4 sides. Use a marker to jot down which colour is on which canvas. Then, you can move them around the space at different times of the day and compare. Goodluck!

good advice I got from a designer is to leave lots of space between your swatches on the wall. the colour next to it can influence how you're seeing the colour!
