I think the determination of wether Muhammad is the most influential man comes down to wether we say that the capacity for direct attribution of their ideas to them is a necessary condition in their influence. If we say it is then figures like Jesus, who have no known works written by them and live debate around whether secondary works about them are by eye witnesses or not would be disqualified. It would also disqualify many philosophers like Socrates for instance whose ideas, though widespread, are not contained in his own writing but in the writings of his students. However if we allow figures like Jesus and Socrates to be considered despite the lack of ideas that can be directly attributed to them and we simply consider the influence that their name, ideology, and movement has had on the world then Jesus is certainly the most influential man to ever live.
