It's what I was feeling in Korea. They need "relationship" for the sake of having it. A lot of dating is performative: couple clothes, aegyo, doing stuff, and what other people are doing but not genuinely interested in it. There is no substance, no soul-tying, that's why it seems soulless and professional.
