Police officer here!! The dispatcher did amazing! Dispatchers do not have to give miranda, so it makes the case alot easier if they can lock in a story before cops get there and the suspect changes their mind or ask for a lawyer.

Anyone confused.. 911 dispatchers are trained to try and get as much info as possible for the officers arriving. Her questions were just trying to get more information out of both parties while also showing sympathy, definitely valid.

I think in situations like this the dispatcher is trained to keep them on the phone as long as possible until officers arrive. it sounds like she's just gathering more information for the police as she is sending them to the house.

As a 911 dispatcher, she did outstanding. The call is in. They’re coming. She’s now updating the call while the police are responding. Prearrival instructions are crucial and she set the tone for their arrival as well as got him to admit it himself. Her demeanor and way of thinking is so underestimated in this comment section but this is 100% what I would want an operator to ask if the little girl was my family. BRAVO 👏🏼

The dispatcher was most likely trying to make sure that the house was safe for the officers. Making sure that he wasn’t a threat to others in the house or himself or harming the cops.
