I was an angle tree kid every year from 3-18; the only year I got anything was the last year I was eligible and all I asked for was a stuffed bear and a new pair of pajamas. The trash bag came the day after Christmas that year with a brown teddy bear the size of me like the big $30 ones at Walmart and I broke down sobbing that was maybe the best Christmas I’ll ever have I wish I could’ve thanked the person who bought them

one year my daughter only asked for one thing which was the Harry Potter book set. she got a Bible and a bunch of Christian teen girl books....... and my boys been asking for bikes for the past 3 years and nothing else and dont get picked ( their school signs them up bc we are on free lunch)

Less & less people are taking a tag. It's sad because these influencers & people shaming people for trying to help. They are actually telling people if you can't get EVERYTHING on the list to LEAVE it.

Unfortunately, not everyone on the tree does get picked for a person to do it. Because of programs that do the toy donations they try their best to fill those angel trees that way, so kids are still able to get something.

This is why we donate extra toys to the group that does a version of Angel tree in our srea. They hold fundraiser throughout the year to collect funds to fill in tags that are not filled. Also why my husband and I take 6 teens off the trees each year. We have no family, no kids- so we treat them as our kiddos for a couple of hours. 💛

my boyfriend was an angel tree kid. his never got picked after like 10 because apparently older boys dont get grabbed ever. they put together donated stuff that was age appropriate and gave that to him. some people just drop off donated toys and items instead of buying a tag, at least where I am, and thats what they do that for, sp those who dint get picked can still get stuff. so every kid gets something. it may not be what they wanted but its something at least. he said he never cared much, he knew he wanst getting anything otherwise from his parents, so he was just happy to get anything at all.

In our town there are always other programs where ppl can sign up for and one of the local women runs it . They had have quite a bit of fraud in the past tho where ppl would be signing up multiple times here and in local towns too , so they usually contact other organizations to make sure there are no duplicates . They always fulfill the list of everybody who signs up too .

I went to Walmart 2 days ago I live in a popular mid class neighborhood on the outskirts of la and the angel tree was filled. Not one tag had been taken off. I was only able to do one and go all out for it.
