@galaxiques: It’s December 23rd and there’s nothing under the tree because the man controlling the money “forgot” Christmas was coming. This is what financial abuse looks like. No job because isolation. No car because control. No cash because permission is required to exist. Trapped in a house you cannot leave, in a town with no transit, watching your child wait for magic you are not allowed to buy. The budget doesn’t include joy. Not for me. Not for our son. But somehow it included a $1500 guitar amp last month. Funny how money only gets tight when it’s not about him. This is domestic violence without bruises. This is coercive control. This is financial abuse. This is how they keep you small and quiet and blaming yourself while they play music real loud so nobody hears you breaking. I’m not ashamed there’s nothing to wrap. I’m angry. And anger is fuel. I might not have a present under the tree this year, but I’m building something better. A plan. An exit. A future where my kid doesn’t learn that love comes with permission slips and empty promises. Christmas is quiet this year.
