I recently switch from dip powder and gel, to regular nail polish. I use the Essie base coat, wait 2 minutes to dry, then two coats of Essie color polish waiting 10 mins between application, and finally top with Sally Hansen Insta Dri. My nails don’t smudge and they last about a week with minimal chipping.

what i do is put olive oil on top like pour it on or dip it, however you’d like. then i let it sit for a bit. becomes more smudge resistant. i mena it can still be indented some. but infinitely better imo

Seche vite top coat is the only thing I ever use that avoids this. Orly bonder base coat, 2 thin even coats of polish, finish with Seche vite top coat

Essie base coat 2layers of the color and gel couture top coat. Keep painting thin layers as you go and then wait 45 min you’ll be fully dry

Go to Walmart and get that nail drying spray that they have in some salons and make sure you use thin coats. That’s always helped me not smudge them

I exclusively use the rapid dry polishes like insta-dri or expressie because of this. I don’t know how people have the time to wait for regular nail polish to dry.

What brand? I do a similar routine but only wait 5 minutes between layers and rarely have any issues anymore. I use primarily holo taco polishes

My nails also became very weak because of over-filing. I changed salons over the last few months and that completely ruined them. I spent two weeks only using strengthening polish, and when they were a bit better I started using UV-cured nail strips. That’s what saved my nails.

My sister got me some fancy b12 clear nail polish stuff and I put it on before the color and it helps to have a barrier between the nail and the color! At least for me. My nails are so thin they would flake off with the polish.
